Melancholy speak

You came and you left

You touched and you moved

You inspired and you disappeared

You loved and you vanished

You stirred and you benumbed

You nursed and you faded

You frisked and you dashed

You descended and you departed

Questions unanswered and scattered hopes

Wetted eyes and jaded cores

Busted hearts and pained souls

The door’s open but the mind’s closed

The sun’s gleaming but there’s darkness galore

Children chortle but the heart’s sore

For us

Tomorrows are there no more…

Surprised, don’t be

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if the grass was blue and the sky green

The birds could bark and the dogs sing

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if the eyes could smell and the ears glimpse

The months were 60 and the minutes 12

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if the blind meant deaf and the deaf blind

The colour black was visible and white too bright

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if the rains were dry and the winds drenched

The mountains were flat and the planes peaked

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if melody was abuse and abuse a tinkle

The goons were gods and the saint a devil

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if smile were a tear and pain a grin

The far was near and the close distant

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if the toil was sweet and leisure sour

The success was vainly and failure a joy

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if meaning was vacuous and pointless meaty

The journey was remainder and destination the beginning

Do you ever wonder,

Wonder if life were the end and death the beginning

The gloomy was blissful and joy distressing

Did you ever wonder,

Do you wish to wonder....

For eternity

Hope’s all I’ve got

At this point in time

Or any other

In my lifetime

Agree, or disagree

But live it, for sure

Me, you

Or anyone on the road

The flower will droop

And wilt for sure

The night will be have no end

And day won’t be there anymore

The wretched will have no respite

And will find his end soon

The day hope

Flies out of the door

Just...be

It’s all so uncertain

It’s all so unplanned

That to fret on it is

Waste of time

What you get

And what you want

Is not a matter of luck

instead god defined..

One day you giggle

the next moment you cry

one second you dream

in a flash it dies..

You strive, you struggle

You sweat, you toil

You resist, you fight

Just ask, why?

Question yourself

And then no one

Just set off

And let him decide

Psuedo people

All around, everywhere

Till as far as you can comprehend

All you will see

Is a world crammed with them

It’s all tainted

Soiled and stained

Pseudo culture seems to be

The only thing that prevails

False people, false look

Phony deeds and fake attitudes

With everyone everywhere

Falling as its prey

How do and how much should I bear

Where can I find an end to it?

Will there ever be one of it

Or will it be there

There till the end of forever

Journey Back Home

Tired, sleepy, dazed, well, what else by the end of a working day. That too when the timings stretch beyond the normal. So, the next best thing that one can possibly think of doing on his way home, which in itself is a big task, ask people living in metro - is to indolently slip down their cab seat and snooze off.

So, that’s what I’ve been practising for all these years of my journeying.

But recently I noticed a digression, a new trend so to say – maybe a side effect of our metro lifestyle – Junta has lost it. And that too completely. I mean sense refuses to prevail anymore. And there is absolutely no lament, shame or pain associated with this loss. Actually even I find it astoundingly refreshing and revitalizing. Yes, this complete baloney existence of self.

For a change you are not pretending, not proving, not badgering. You are simply revelling.

Thus, what you see on roads is a gala of this newly-found fatuous existence. Mindless drivers on road, mesh of vehicles, pedestrians turning blind to footpaths, animals grazing on roads, herders taking to roads, stand-still traffic signals, ineffectual traffic police …everyone seems to be feting around.

Isn’t this a much-deserved diversion? Who cares if you don’t want to join in. If not today, you’ll be there tomorrow, indisputably.
